Cornelius East Vision Plan
With the movement of the proposed Caldwell Station rail stop further south along NC 115, it is necessary for the Town to review the Cornelius East Vision Plan and modify as appropriate. The study area affects the Towns of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville. See the Davidson-Concord Road Small Area Plan for updates to the Cornelius East Vision Plan.
History of the Plan
On December 15, 2003 the Town of Cornelius Board of Commissioners approved the CorneliusEast Vision Plan. The plan provided planners and officials with a tool to guide future growth. The plan also created a foundation for responsible growth against jurisdictional boundaries.
The original Vision Plan proposed significant preservation of open space, the connection of Bailey Road to Davidson-Concord Road to accommodate the new school sites, new residential development, and new transit-friendly office campus development along Old Statesville Road. The transportation portion of the plan took into account the proposed commuter rail along the existing railroad tracks, as well as the proposed crossing closings and future road improvements. Pedestrian and bicycling amenities were also proposed transportation improvements.
